A capacity-building initiative for adolescents in a special correctional centre, focused on helping young people look beyond their present circumstances and recognise possibilities for their future.
1. The Need
Adolescents in juvenile correctional centres often confront deep emotional isolation, a sense of hopelessness, and a lack of preparation for life outside the facility. Without guidance and practical skills, their transition back into society is fraught with barriers.
2. What We Did
ADOPT delivered structured interactive masterclasses covering emotional intelligence, artisan craftsmanship, tailoring basics, computer literacy, and one-on-one psychological counselling. We also distributed comprehensive welfare packs, notebooks, and hygiene items.
3. Who We Reached
Adolescents residing within the Special Correctional Centre for Boys in Oregun, Lagos, working in close cooperation with facility administrators and welfare officers.
4. The Outcome
Participants developed practical skills, increased self-worth, and constructed realistic personal development roadmaps for life after release.

7. What’s Next
We aim to expand follow-up family reintegration support and provide starter artisan toolkits for adolescents transitioning back into their communities.
